Responsibilities
  • Design and develop robust applications using Java EE, applying modern development practices
  • Work within a software architecture based on Clean Architecture and Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) principles
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to analyze systems, business processes, and technical requirements
  • Design and implement enterprise‑grade applications on top of a modern cloud platform
  • Ensure high code quality through automated testing, including unit, database, and integration tests (e.g., Selenium), with at least 80% test coverage
  • Develop solutions in an agile product environment, following DevSecOps practices to ensure secure and continuous delivery
  • Work in a global team environment, engaging with colleagues from different countries (some international travel may be required)
Qualifications
  • A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or equivalent professional experience
  • 5–7 years of hands‑on software development experience, including at least 2–3 years in a senior or lead developer role
  • Expert‑level skills in Java SE and Java EE, including solid knowledge of:
    • JPA, CDI, JTA, JAX‑R‑S
    • Messaging, batch & stream processing
    • Logging and monitoring tools
  • Solid understanding and practical experience with Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) principles
  • Proficient in software design and modeling tools, such as UML
  • Proven experience in relational database design and SQL querying
  • Deep understanding of software development processes, combined with flexibility and a strong customer‑centric mindset
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex technical challenges, particularly in the areas of:
    • System concurrency
    • Data consistency
    • Distributed computing
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken, paired with strong communication abilities
  • Willingness to work on‑site in Hamburg 3 days/week, with 2 days remote in line with our hybrid work policy

The ideal candidate may also bring:

  • Experience with agile development frameworks (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Interest in cloud technologies (AWS, IBM) and microservices
  • Familiarity with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Background in distributed systems and scalable web services
  • Practice in test‑driven development (TDD)
  • Knowledge of asynchronous programming (e.g., Kafka, SAGA patterns)
  • Awareness of cloud security best practices
  • Experience mentoring junior developers
  • Understanding of the international logistics industry
