Jobbeschreibung
Senior Process Engineer (FOAK Scale‑up & Development)

Join Level Nine, a deep‑tech company in Berlin that leverages bio‑nanotechnology and quantum chemistry to produce next‑generation catalysts for green chemicals. You will own the transition of our first pilot‑scale process into a kilotonne‑per‑day production line, taking responsibility for model development, scale‑up, and industrialisation.

Responsibilities
  • Architect and lead the breakthrough industrial transformation of our technology, ensuring alignment with our green mission.
  • Own end‑to‑end process development and scale‑up of core reaction and downstream separation technologies, propelling the process from pilot to production.
  • Model and simulate process optimisations in Aspen (or similar) to reduce OPEX, improve energy efficiency, and validate techno‑economics.
  • Lead activities at our in‑house pilot facilities: test, troubleshoot, validate equipment and hypotheses.
  • Generate and codify a deep process understanding of our technology to guide R&D and scale‑up strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to translate technical knowledge into a clear, scalable engineering design package.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in chemical process development, R&D, and/or scale‑up.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software and a proven record of building robust computational models for FEED.
  • Ability to design process concepts and execute hands‑on experimentation simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and collaborative, pragmatic problem‑solving.
  • Commercial sense – translate engineering results into actionable business feedback.
  • Demonstrable experience in catalysis, reaction engineering, and/or separation processes at industrial scale.
  • Understanding of quality, operational excellence, and regulatory considerations at relevant scale.
  • Fluent English; German B1+ desirable.
