Overview

Amazon’s Data Centers are industry‑leading examples of innovation in security, safety, space utilization, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. The global EMEA Data Center Construction team builds Amazon‑owned sites and works across Design Engineering, Real Estate, Construction, and Procurement to deliver world‑class data center facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent AWS, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget execution of projects while driving continuous improvements in cost, quality, H&S, and sustainability.
• Lead and mentor large cross‑functional teams as a technical and project‑management resource, motivating all levels to deliver results.
• Act as the primary escalation point for feasibility and pre‑development actions, owning and tracking issues to resolution.
• Negotiate terms of contracts with developers, contractors, and consultants, managing site validation, due diligence, risk analysis, design management, and cost negotiations.
• Lead negotiations with general contractors and internal procurement partners, evaluating bids/proposals/claims and reporting key construction and commercial metrics (schedule, cost, budget).
• Review and provide input into global standards and data center template designs, ensuring consistency and high quality documentation.
• Independently support, overview, and manage complex cross‑functional data center projects from site selection, permitting, and contract execution, keeping stakeholders informed
• Maintain scope progress under control by driving decisions, identifying blockers, and escalating appropriately.
• Collaborate with real estate, design engineering, construction, finance, architects, engineers, permitting agencies, developers, and landlords to secure resources, set priorities, milestones, and drive results.
• Conduct design and cost negotiations, price reviews for scope inclusions/exclusions, and negotiate the cost of work with developers, general contractors, and design consultants.
• Evaluate due diligence, schedule tracking, and solve factors that impede successful project hand‑over to Amazon stakeholders.
• Drive accountability by insisting on high standards, coaching teams, and applying disciplinary actions when necessary.

Basic Qualifications

• Professional fluency in Arabic, German, and English.
• Extensive experience in mission‑critical facilities (design, pre‑construction, scheduling, construction, commissioning) or equivalent.
• Knowledge of civil, electric, and mechanical engineering principles.
• Knowledge of critical data center equipment (Generators, UPS, Switch‑gear, Transformers, Power Feeders, Chillers, Plumbing, Fire Detection/Suppression, AHUs, CRAC, CRAH, CRAH).
• Ability to travel ~40% of time.

Preferred Qualifications

• + years experience in Construction Site Management, conducting negotiations with general contractors and evaluating bids/proposals.
• Professional certification such as CCM, PMP, AC or CPC.
• Additional language skills are appreciated.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, related field or equivalent trade certification.
