Position Summary:

The role of the Senior Building Performance Manager involves developing advanced energy models for various building types using simulation software, analyzing results, proposing innovative energy efficiency strategies, and collaborating closely with design teams to achieve high-performance buildings. Responsibilities also include developing and implementing energy modeling strategies, managing projects, and ensuring high-quality deliverables related to building performance and energy simulation.

Responsibilities:

- Project Management & Execution

Lead and perform billable project work (remotely and on-site) for clients, including building performance modeling (LEED, code compliance, energy audits), Whole Building Life Cycle Assessments (WBLCA), New Construction Commissioning, and Decarbonization Assessments for new and existing buildings.

Manage new construction projects from schematic design through operations via detailed energy modeling and commissioning expertise.

Manage existing building projects involving deep retrofits, adaptive reuse, and repositioning through detailed energy modeling and design development.

Collect and analyze data on energy systems, water efficiency, waste management, and other sustainability metrics, and prepare clear reports that convey technical information and client objectives.

Consult regularly with project stakeholders such as owners, property managers, engineers, architects, and contractors to gather information and provide guidance.

Conduct quality control reviews of project deliverables and other materials.

- Team Management

Oversee onboarding and offboarding of engineering staff, ensuring processes are thorough and effective.

Promote innovation in sustainability, encourage new ideas, and report innovations in leadership meetings.

Manage quarterly and annual performance reviews and develop training plans for team members to support their growth.

- Department Management

Research and recommend advanced technical methods like AI and scripting to improve operational efficiency and expand service offerings.

Serve as a technical resource across departments, contribute to sales efforts, and participate in strategic planning.

Address employee issues and staffing changes in collaboration with HR.

Participate in industry associations and leverage mentorship opportunities for professional development.

Compensation and Qualifications:

Annual base pay ranges from $100,000 to $120,000, with potential bonuses and benefits including a 401(k), health plans, parental leave, and paid time off.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, 7+ years of relevant experience, PE license (preferably NY), and experience managing energy simulation projects per ASHRAE standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include proficiency in architectural drawings, technical communication, project management, and software tools such as REVIT, AutoCAD, and energy simulation programs.
