Responsibilities
- active participation in the broad science program at the SQS instrument
- development of new optical systems for cutting-edge time-resolved experiments at the shortest (few femtosecond to attosecond) timescales
- integration and improvement of the current optical systems for time-resolved multi-wavelength pump-probe experiments, especially the extension towards the UV-VUV wavelength regime
- development of individual research activities at the European XFEL
- support and consultation to instrument users for their experimental campaign
Qualifications
- PhD in physics or an equivalent academic degree
- proven experience with femtosecond optical lasers including dispersion management and optical design
- experience with pump-probe experiments on gas phase targets
- practical knowledge of UHV technologies and/or practical experience at large scale facility (e.g. SR, FEL) would be an asset
- knowledge of programming languages, Matlab, C++ or Python
