About Helmholtz Munich

At Helmholtz Munich, we develop groundbreaking solutions for a healthier society in a rapidly changing world. We believe that diverse perspectives drive innovation. Through strong partnerships, we accelerate the transfer of new ideas from the lab to real‑life applications, improving lives.

Your work

Your work provides the foundation for scientific discoveries with real impact, shaping the future of health.

Institute of Epidemiology (EPI)

The Institute of Epidemiology investigates the links between environment, lifestyle and genetics in the development of diseases. The focus is on metabolism, respiratory and allergic diseases, but also cardiovascular diseases and mental health. Our aims are to better understand the molecular mechanisms of disease development in the population, to break new ground in prevention at the individual level and to enable evidence‑based preventive health care through improved environmental conditions. The research is based, among other things, on the unique population‑based KORA resources (cohort, heart attack registry, aerosol monitoring station) and the GINI and LISA birth cohorts. EPI is also one of the central partners in planning and execution of the NAKO Health Study and is building the central NAKO biosample repository.

Your tasks
  • Coordinate and support research projects – from planning and timelines to preparing grant applications (EU, BMBF, DFG and others) – and track ongoing grant activities
  • Support research teams with HR‑related processes, contract coordination and general administrative tasks

  • Act as a contact person for internal and external partners, ensuring smooth communication between scientists, administration, and external collaborators

Your profile
  • University degree in science (PhD welcome but not required)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams
  • Reliable, detail‑oriented working style — able to balance structured planning with solution‑oriented flexibility
  • Confident use of M365 applications (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint) and openness to using AI tools for efficiency
  • Very good command of written and spoken German and English
Desirable qualifications
  • Initial experience in project or science management in a publicly funded institution or in the private sector
