The Opportunity

On behalf of our client, a well-established player in the European power market, we are currently recruiting a Risk Analyst with solid experience in physical power and asset-backed portfolios. The role sits close to trading and asset management and offers strong exposure to power plant hedging, generation risk, and structured power products.

This is an excellent opportunity for a risk professional looking to deepen their expertise in physical power markets within a commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and monitor market risk exposure related to physical power positions
  • Assess risks arising from power generation assets, PPAs, and hedging strategies
  • Produce and maintain risk metrics such as VaR, stress tests, and scenario analyses
  • Support and review hedging strategies for physical power portfolios
  • Evaluate price, volume, shape, and profile risks
  • Prepare regular risk reports for senior management and internal stakeholders
  • Work closely with trading, origination, and quantitative teams
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of risk frameworks and methodologies
Candidate Profile
  • University degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or similar
  • Several years of experience in risk management within physical power markets
  • Strong understanding of power market fundamentals and generation economics
  • Practical exposure to power plant hedging or asset-backed trading strategies
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skill set
  • Advanced Excel skills; Python, VBA, SQL, or R are advantageous
  • Ability to communicate complex risk topics clearly and pragmatically
  • Fluent English required; German highly beneficial
