Chair of Digital Industrial Service Systems (Prof. Dr. Martin Matzner)

Responsibilities

• Your research focus is directed to the area of business process management, with a particular emphasis on the analytical part of BPM based on event data, commonly referred to as process mining. Develop methods, techniques, and algorithms to help organizations improve their processes based on insights yielded from data, enabling the data to speak.
• Address business process automation to help organizations automate process activities for increased efficiency in the course of digitalization. Develop innovative frameworks, methods, and tools for supporting business processes.
• Contribute to creating a prediction approach for business processes usable for fraud detection or optimized logistics planning, among other activities.
• Work independently, contribute to industry and research projects of the chair, and present and publish work at national and international conferences and in scientific journals.
• Engage in research stays with international partners in coordination with project requirements and provide support with chair-related teaching (conception and implementation) and administrative duties.

Qualifications

• You have a university degree (Master or equivalent) in Information Systems, Wirtschaftsinformatik or a related discipline with a grade point average of at least good, and you are seeking a Ph.D. position.
• You have a genuine interest (or experience) in Process Mining and/or Business Process Automation.
• You have knowledge about the application of design science-oriented, qualitative, or quantitative research methods.
• You are interested in working with partners from industry and academia to solve real-world problems.
• You have excellent communication skills in English and ideally also German.
• You demonstrate team spirit and a confident presence.
• You have (first) experience in a programming language like Java, Python, or similar.
