Overview
The successful candidate will join a group of physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, therapists, and nurses to treat patients at two cancer centers in Rehoboth Beach, DE and Frankford, DE. This position will provide full range of routine clinical physics support, including patient treatment chart review, dosimetry support and all quality assurance checks related to treatment plans, linacs, CT scanners and other radiation therapy equipment.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical physics support, including oversight of dosimetry in treatment planning processes and technical aspects of treatment delivery.
- Provide Radiation Oncologists with special physics consultations and consult, as required, on special treatment procedures and clinical setups.
- Evaluate patient treatment setups, assist with patient simulations and design/fabrication of patient treatment aids.
- Perform patient specific dosimetric measurements and treatment plan QA procedures.
- Support all special procedures including SBRT, motion management and IGRT.
- Provide continuing medical physics support for patients under treatment, including weekly patient chart review and chart closure.
- Perform and ensure periodic calibration of linear accelerators, simulators, treatment planning systems and dosimetry equipment, in accordance with national and state standards and recommendations.
- Provide clinical instructions/training to radiation therapy team members.
- Evaluate new technologies and implement them as needed; Oversee acceptance testing of new or repaired equipment, imaging and software upgrades.
- Serve as the contact person for machine maintenance and repair, and any required quality assurance thereafter.
- Participate in the Quality Management Program and treatment process improvements.
- Assist in accreditation of new programs and provide credentialing support for external protocols.
- Maintain documentation and adhere to regulatory agencies (state and federal) in demonstrating compliance with applicable regulations and recommendations.
- Consult with vendors of equipment used in practice (i.e. linacs, MRI, CT etc) concerning purchase specifications, acceptance testing, proper QA, and routine maintenance.
Qualifications
- 3 years experience in Clinical Medical Physics, or graduating from CAMPEP residency program.
- M.S. in Therapeutic Medical Physics.
