Overview

Role: Quality Laboratory Supervisor
Responsibilities
- Ensure Food Safety & Quality conformity of all products delivered to market, consistently with the overall SQCDME Plant performance and the P&FP specifications.
- Ensure products sent to the market follow local, state, and federal regulations as well as Danone procedures, raw & packs, product, and process specifications.
- Support compliance with finished product Quality & Food Safety sampling, control plans, and monitoring plans.
- Promote a product superiority mindset in the laboratory team.
- Support and implement action plans to improve Quality metrics (KPIs) including but not limited to Consumer Complaints, ABC, Finished Goods Loss.
- Accountable for the laboratory metrology program (calibrations) and PMs.
- Ensure full compliance with the Danone Food Safety Policy and Danone standards execution.
- Lead the Food Safety and Analytical Performance Audit and ensure the plant is compliant with these standards.
- Ensure Quality & Food Safety is forefront in SOPs and working instructions.
- Support product release and rules for non-conforming product management.
- Organize training, certifications and audits internal & external to laboratory test for technician compliance.
- Facilitate, animate, and communicate Quality & Laboratory Management Reviews and KPI status.
- Be the primary contact for quality in the laboratory and plant.
- Build and manage the Quality Laboratory Technician Team to meet Food Safety requirements, Danone Standards, and completion of Analytical Performance.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and correcting employees; addressing complaints and resolving barriers to success.
- Communicate and ensure the Quality & Food Safety policy execution, including escalation and communication rules (timelines, results, monthly reporting).
- Develop the Quality Laboratory Technicians for mobility cross-functionally.
- Provide leadership and improve quality performance.
- All other assigned duties.
- Maintain knowledge regarding food safety, quality, regulation, and laboratory testing.
- Demonstrate computer literacy and software navigation.
- Show leadership, motivate others, and tackle projects independently; recognize areas of need across the company.
- Ability to rapidly assess, analyze, make decisions, and resolve complex quality problems with varying degrees of ambiguity.
- Ability to work with confidential materials and possess strong spreadsheet, word processing and database skills.
- Proactivity, data analysis, trend analysis, quick-thinking, and conceptualization skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Established project management skills and ability to interact with various levels of plant and corporate personnel to influence others.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and share knowledge/ideas; meticulous work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under deadlines with multiple priorities and tolerance for stress; adaptable and flexible with patience, persistence, and resilience.
- Willingness to take on new challenges and manage priorities while allocating time to long-term quality continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, chemistry, food science or related field.
- 3-4 years of Quality Assurance experience in food/beverage manufacturing with emphasis on dairy fermentation and laboratory management; prior experience in a food manufacturing environment required.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Continuous improvement experience preferred.
- Professional licenses/certificates (preferred): FSSC 22000 food safety certification.
- Ability to accommodate a 24/7 manufacturing facility on an as-needed basis.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing Plant: internal traffic and handling of raw materials; potential hazards (chemicals, sharp objects, heavy machinery, steam pipelines).
- Loud noises, agricultural odors, wet floors, and condensation.
- Stamina and endurance for long hours including standing, walking, climbing, crawling, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
