We are seeking a highly experienced Project Director to lead the development and delivery of large‑scale industrial plants in the bioeconomy sector. In this role, you will oversee all phases of project execution, from conceptual design and planning to construction, commissioning, and handover. You will coordinate interdisciplinary teams, manage risks, and ensure projects meet schedule, budget, quality, and sustainability targets. Your strategic vision and operational expertise will enable the creation of scalable, first‑of‑a‑kind production facilities that advance sustainable innovation. Accountabilities
- Lead industrial plant engineering projects, including infrastructure, utilities, and production facilities, from planning to commissioning.
- Ensure projects meet objectives for schedule, budget, quality, safety, and sustainability, providing accurate reporting to stakeholders.
- Deliver projects through various methods, such as EPCM, EPC, or in‑house management.
- Establish clear project structures, responsibilities, decision‑making processes, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate communication and alignment with internal and external stakeholders, including management, authorities, service providers, and boards.
- Oversee risk management, quality assurance, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a collaborative project culture based on trust, accountability, and respect.
- Champion sustainable, innovative, and circular approaches in plant construction and engineering, including ESG monitoring and reporting.
- Contribute to strategic planning, site evaluation, and capacity scaling to support future growth.
Requirements
- University degree in mechanical, process, civil, industrial engineering, or a comparable qualification.
- 10+ years of experience managing complex, large‑scale industrial facility projects (investment volumes > €100M).
- Proven experience with project delivery methods such as EPC and EPCM.
- Strong technical knowledge of plant construction, process engineering, and production operations, ideally in bioeconomy, chemical, or related sectors.
- Track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Proficiency in risk, change, and claim management, and collaboration with contractors and service providers.
- Strategic foresight, entrepreneurial mindset, and excellent decision‑making skills.
- Hands‑on, solution‑oriented approach with the ability to manage complexity and ambiguity.
- Effective leadership skills fostering accountability, trust, and motivation across teams.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, CAD software, and MS Project is advantageous.
- Fluent in German and English, written and spoken.
