We are offering a Master Thesis project for students passionate about sustainability, renewable energy, and the science behind global transformation. This project will focus on performing a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of e-Fuel production plants currently under development at HIF.

Scope of the Thesis

As global demand for sustainable fuels accelerates, e-Fuels are becoming a vital solution to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors such as aviation, shipping and transportation.

Regulatory frameworks, especially in the EU, are setting strict certification standards for renewable fuels of non-biological origin.

What You Will Do
  • Conduct life cycle assessments (LCA) of HIF’s eFuel production projects.
  • Develop models for different plant configurations (e.g., biomass, direct air capture).
  • Analyze regulatory compliance and identify certification challenges.
  • Recommend strategies to optimize LCA outcomes for certification and scalability.
Your Profile

We are looking for a motivated student who brings curiosity, analytical rigor, and a passion for sustainability :

  • Academic background in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with LCA methodologies and software (advantage).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English (German is a plus, not mandatory).
