Localization und Tools Engineer

Job Description

In this position you will act as the connecting link between our product development teams and our translation project management and support these teams regarding localization tools and processes. Your contribution is crucial with regard to QA of our localized products as you will:

• Analyze software for globalization requirements
• Mentor our developments teams in terms of internationalization and localizability of the software
• Manage changes to the code base (such as hard coded or concatenated strings and encoding issues) when required

Furthermore your will:

• Create L10N engineering project plans for complex localization projects
• Manage UI resources for projects, ensuring proper update of localized resources for our developments teams
• Create complex tools and macros to automate repetitive tasks

In addition you will support our tools team integrating CAT tools into our CMS/TMS systems and handling complex system administration tasks for other company tools.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Degree in computer science or an engineering discipline and related work experience (equivalent experience may be substituted for formal education)
• Knowledge of software development and process automation as well as scripting languages
• Awareness of challenges that arise for localization in agile development environments
• Experience with CAT tools like Crowdin, Trados Studio, Alchemy Catalyst oder TMS systems and a good understanding of the concepts of machine translation
• Experience with source code repositories and version control systems like Perforce/Git/Stash and project management/bug tracking tools like Jira
• Excellent English skills, both writing and speaking (note that the working language of the office is English). Speaking German is not necessary, but it helps if you’re willing to learn.
• Motivation to work with globally dispersed teams across time zones
