You’ll be part of the global UXD practice at Springer Nature and work with colleagues around the world.

We currently operate on a hybrid model.

Visit sndigital.springernature.com to learn more about who we are and what we do.

About you

You are a Lead User Experience Researcher with extensive experience in qualitative and quantitative research. You have researched various stages of product development and are open to trying new approaches to share and apply your findings.

You have experience coaching less experienced researchers and designers, helping them grow their confidence and technical skills.

You have successfully worked with teams to design research strategies that provide insights on key areas and have fed actionable insights into multiple product teams from foundational research.

Why we need you

The Springer Nature digital department operates within a domain model, grouping products and projects related to similar user and business needs (e.g., ‘Attract to Publish’, ‘Content Acquisition’).

You will support the Attract to Publish program, helping scientists find and utilize scientific content efficiently.

You will collaborate with product teams focused on improving user experiences, working both with teams and at the domain level to support and lead research activities. You will adapt your approach across different areas within the domain based on user and business needs.

In partnership with the Attract to Publish Leads, the Head of UX Research, and the Research Manager, you will help shape the UX research strategy for the domain.

You will mentor and support less experienced researchers and designers within the domain.

You’ll be supported by the Research Community daily.

What you’ll be doing

Within 3 months

  • Gain understanding of publishing trends and markets, especially STM trends
  • Assess platform performance to help users achieve their goals
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to understand goals and priorities
  • Identify knowledge gaps to inform the research strategy
  • Create a unified view of core user goals on our platforms
  • Establish relationships with Attract to Publish teams to understand their research strategies
  • Support the UX Research Team in sharing best practices and research methodologies

6 – 12 months

  • Use existing and ongoing research to prioritize areas for research strategy development
  • Leverage additional data sources (market research, analytics, customer service insights) for deeper understanding
  • Design and socialize the research strategy
  • Plan and conduct research activities
  • Collaborate with UXers in Attract to Publish to scope, plan, and execute research projects
  • Assist teams in using research outcomes for roadmaps, strategies, and OKRs
  • Encourage proactive research to discover user needs and opportunities

Daily Life

You will need to be autonomous and proactive, self-organizing and prioritizing research tasks.

You will:

  • Work with UX Designers and product teams to translate questions into research activities
  • Collaborate with Market Intelligence and Analytics teams
  • Identify improvements for processes, tools, and methods
  • Recruit, organize, plan, and run workshops and research activities
