Job Overview :

We are seeking a Microbiology Technician to support our team with essential laboratory tasks, including microbial cultivation, media preparation, sample collection, equipment maintenance, and basic analytical testing.

You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the lab, contributing to the optimization of microbial fermentation processes for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food biotechnology applications.

This position involves close collaboration with scientists on projects that emphasize yeast cultivation. Most of your time will be dedicated to working with the NOY (Neobank of Yeast) collection, cultivating new yeast strains on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Media Preparation: prepare culture media, buffers, and solutions to support microbial fermentation processes with an emphasis on yeast.
  • General Microbiology Tasks: culturing microorganisms, preparation of cell banks, and microscopic assessment of cultures.
  • Yeast Cultivation (NOY Collection): daily cultivation and maintenance of new yeast strains as part of the NOY collection.
  • Equipment Setup and Maintenance: assist in setting up, operating, and maintaining microorganism cultivation at various scales, including shake flasks and bioreactors, as well as related lab instruments.
  • Sample Collection and Analysis: collect, label, and organize samples for analysis.
  • Sterilization and Cleanliness: maintain a clean and sterile lab environment by sterilizing glassware, instruments, and fermentation equipment.
  • Data Recording: accurately record experimental conditions, sample data, and process parameters in the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) system.
  • Support Process Development: assist scientists in various tasks related to process optimization and scaling up microbial fermentations, particularly yeast.
  • Health & Safety: ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, including the proper handling of microorganisms, chemicals, and lab equipment.
Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of hands-on laboratory experience in microbiology, biotechnology, or related fields, with a focus on yeast cultivation.
  • Experience in media preparation, sterile techniques, and general laboratory procedures.
  • Familiarity with basic lab equipment and instruments, including shakers, incubators, autoclaves and spectrophotometers.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in recording data.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
  • Knowledge of lab safety protocols and adherence to high internal standards for data integrity, accuracy, and transparency.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel or data entry software for maintaining lab records.
  • Fluency in English.
