Position Overview

We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer to provide comprehensive technical support and maintenance services across two client sites in Germany. This role requires a versatile professional capable of delivering reactive and planned maintenance across multiple engineering disciplines while ensuring optimal building performance and occupant satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Maintenance & Operations: Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; execute reactive maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize downtime; conduct regular building inspections and condition assessments; monitor and optimize building management systems (BMS) and controls; maintain HVAC systems, lighting, power distribution, and water systems; perform minor fabric repairs and general building maintenance tasks.
  • Third-Party Engineering Delivery Management: Coordinate and oversee external contractor activities across both sites ensuring quality and compliance; develop and maintain approved contractor database with vetted suppliers for specialized engineering services; prepare detailed scopes of work and technical specifications for third-party engineering projects; obtain competitive quotations and evaluate contractor proposals for cost-effectiveness and technical merit; manage contractor scheduling to minimize disruption to building operations and occupant activities; conduct comprehensive site inductions for all external contractors ensuring health, safety, and security compliance; supervise contractor work progress, quality standards, and adherence to specifications; review and approve contractor method statements and risk assessments before work commencement; coordinate permit-to-work systems for high-risk activities including hot works, confined space entry, and electrical isolation; monitor contractor performance against KPIs including quality, timeliness, safety, and cost control; conduct final inspections and sign-off on completed works ensuring all deliverables meet specification; manage contractor payments through proper verification of completed works and compliance with contractual terms; maintain detailed records of all third-party activities including certificates, warranties, and as-built documentation; implement lessons learned from contractor performance to improve future procurement and delivery; coordinate emergency response contractors for out-of-hours critical system failures; ensure all third-party works comply with German engineering standards, building codes, and client requirements.
  • Contractor Escort and Security Services: Provide mandatory escort services for all third-party contractors and project personnel throughout both sites; conduct arrival procedures including identity verification, security badge issuance, and safety briefing delivery; escort contractors to and from work areas ensuring compliance with designated access routes and restricted zones; continuously supervise contractor activities to ensure adherence to site security protocols and client confidentiality requirements; monitor contractor movement between different areas of the building ensuring proper authorization for zone access; ensure contractors comply with client dress codes, behavior standards, and workspace etiquette requirements; coordinate bathroom breaks, lunch periods, and departure procedures maintaining security oversight at all times; document contractor attendance, work locations, and any security incidents or breaches in detailed logs; liaise with client security teams and building management regarding contractor presence and activities; manage contractor equipment and tool inspections ensuring no unauthorized items enter or leave the premises; coordinate with reception and security personnel for seamless contractor check-in and check-out processes; provide emergency evacuation guidance to contractors during fire alarms or security incidents; ensure contractors understand and comply with photography restrictions and intellectual property protection measures; monitor contractor waste disposal and material removal ensuring compliance with site environmental policies; coordinate multi-contractor projects ensuring different trades are properly supervised and separated when required; maintain detailed escort schedules and coordinate coverage between sites to ensure continuous supervision availability.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work complies with German technical standards (DIN) and safety regulations; maintain statutory compliance records and certification schedules; conduct risk assessments and implement safe working practices; support health and safety initiatives and emergency procedures; coordinate with external contractors for specialized maintenance and inspections; verify contractor insurance coverage and statutory certifications before work authorization; ensure escorted contractors maintain safety standards throughout their site presence.
  • Site Coordination: Travel between assigned sites ensuring consistent service delivery standards; prioritize and schedule maintenance activities across both locations; maintain accurate work logs, asset registers, and maintenance records; coordinate with site management and occupants regarding planned works; provide technical support and guidance to facility teams; manage site access and security protocols for contractor personnel; plan escort schedules to optimize coverage across both sites while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Client Service & Communication: Respond promptly to maintenance requests and occupant concerns; provide regular updates on work progress and completion status; participate in client meetings and service reviews; identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings; maintain professional relationships with site stakeholders; present contractor performance reports and cost analysis to client stakeholders; communicate contractor presence and activities to affected building occupants.
  • System Optimization: Monitor energy consumption and identify efficiency opportunities; recommend upgrades and improvements to building systems; support sustainability initiatives and environmental compliance; assist with space planning and minor modification projects; evaluate contractor proposals for system upgrades and capital improvements.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
  • Qualified in electrical, mechanical, or building services engineering
  • Multi-skilled across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general maintenance
  • Experience with building management systems and controls
  • Knowledge of German technical standards and regulations
  • Basic fabrication and repair capabilities
  • Understanding of contractor management and procurement processes
  • Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and high-risk activity management
Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years in building maintenance or facilities management
  • Commercial property maintenance experience preferred
  • Previous multi-site responsibility advantageous
  • Experience working with international facility management companies
  • Demonstrated experience managing third-party contractors and suppliers
  • Background in project coordination and technical supervision
  • Experience providing contractor escort services in secure or sensitive environments preferred
Certifications & Licenses
  • Relevant German trade qualifications (Meister/Geselle or equivalent)
  • Valid German driving license
  • Electrical safety certifications as required
  • First aid certification preferred
  • Project management or contractor management training advantageous
  • Security awareness training or clearance beneficial
