Hauptaufgaben

Serves as Electronics Technician and is engaged in the development of plans, specifications and cost estimates for new installations, and major modification of Intrusion Detection Systems in the area. The equipment is typically specially designed to fill the specific functions of intrusion detection. The electronic systems are made up of combinations of components--: assembled into a configuration designed to accomplish intrusion detection, such as J-SIIDS (Joint Services Interusion Detection System).

1. Develops plans, specifications and cost estimates. Studies and analyzes characteristics to determine operational characteristics of present or proposed items. Develops and explores sources of information, approach and details of the job. Applies the most appropriate of a number of courses of action, techniques and lay‑outs possible. Methods, techniques and procedures involved are varied but basic in nature. In the majority of the cases reference can be made to precedents or adaptations of previous plans may suffice. Projects involve electronic alarm systems, exterior distribution systems including low‑tension distribution systems. Refers to supply catalogs and price lists for locally manufactured items in establishing cost estimates. Develops cost estimates by applying technical evaluation. Reviews comparable designs prepared by contractors in terms of practicability, economy and suitability to functional requirements. Meets with contractors and assists contracting officer with technical details requiring expertise in complex electronic security systems. Recommends revision as necessary and recommends or develops contract change order information. Assists at meetings involving pre‑award, pre‑construction and pre‑advertising with potential contractor.

2. Visits work sites to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and to check on work progress. Reports to supervisor or project officer all matters where contractor failed to meet the requirement of the contract. After installation of equipment determines the efficiency and proper operation of the equipment. Informs supervisor or project office of failures of material found. Participates in acceptance inspection – on completion of systems.

3. Performs miscellaneous duties. Assists supply operation in maintaining spare parts stock and in obtaining spare parts through military supply channels. Assists in establishing stocks of spare parts and periodically checks that stock of spare parts is sufficient to meet requirements.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifikationsanforderungen

E&T Level IV B and C: A Meister Diploma or Staatlich geprüfter Techniker in a trade or craft that is related to the position; PLUS 3 years of job related experience as defined below.

E&T Level V: Graduation from a University or equivalent, e.g. the Berufsakademie, or Technische Hochschule als Ingenieur der Elektrotechnik or in another related academic field; PLUS 2 years of job related experience as defined below.

Job Related Experience: Experience as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic in electronics, electricity, engineering, communications, in occupations such as Fernmeldeanlagenelektroniker, Fernsehtechnik und elektronische Medien, Elektromaschinenbauer, Elektromechaniker, or in a similar occupation. The experience must show progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory, function, operation, and capabilities of electronic equipment used in this position.
