Your Role
The Digital Plant Architect is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of digital plant target architecture and related technologies and support digital plant IT program management & roadmap execution in the company. The role is to bridge the gap between traditional manufacturing and digital/IT solutions, using advanced digital tools and techniques to enable connected plant and realize the paperless operations and develop the technology roadmap towards smart manufacturing. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams (e.g., OT, engineering, automation, plant operation team, QC) to integrate IT/OT systems into plant operations, optimize plant operations, support decision making processes, ensure seamless connectivity, scalability, and efficiency, and transform traditional manufacturing into a smart, connected, and data-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Architecture Development
- Design end-to-end digital plant target architectures and data structures to ensure data interoperability and achieve paperless factory operations.
- Integrate key technologies such as PLCs, SCADA systems, Environmental Monitoring Systems, Building Management Systems, Data Historians, MES, EBR, ERP production modules, and digital worker tools like DDMS and OEE.
- Design interfaces and data transfer mechanisms to connect the shopfloor systems with existing enterprise systems, such as ERP and MES.
- Ensure interoperability and seamless communication between IT and OT systems.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation in the digital plant area.
- Oversee the deployment of digital/IT solutions like MES, EBR, Data Historian, etc., ensuring they meet performance, cost, and timeline requirements.
- Lead digital plant IT solution/technology governance and optimization, review business processes and functional requirements to optimize the solution architecture, recommend options, select the most optimal option, and develop a roadmap for the selected solution, ensuring proposed solutions fulfill functional requirements and comply with technology solution standards.
Process mapping and data flow design
- Develop an integrated IT/OT process map spanning Level 0 to Level 4 of the ISA-95 model, considering existing processes and future trends for a digital plant and lighthouse.
- Assess existing processes and incorporate future trends to design systems supporting business capabilities for a digital plant.
- Oversee and map how production data flows from sensors on machines to order details in ERP, from shop floor devices to back-end systems, and design a general data flow in terms of the overall production process value chain.
Program Management and Project Execution
- Lead or contribute to the digital plant program and related projects, from planning and requirements gathering to implementation and deployment.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including plant managers, engineers, software vendors, and contractors, to ensure project goals are met.
- Present digital plant concepts, progress, and results to non-technical stakeholders, translating complex technical information into understandable terms.
Who you are
- A bachelors or masters degree in computer science, engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, or industrial), or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in digital plant solutions design and implementation.
- Proven experience with MES, EBR, Data Historian, and digital workers technology.
- Deep understanding of IT/OT technologies and processes from Level 0 to Level 4.
- Familiarity with IoT technologies, data analytics, and machine learning concepts.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C# for data processing and system integration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with cross-functional teams like production, engineering, automation, OT and IT global teams.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and validation regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good program/project management capabilities.
