Chief Engineer (m/f/d) Telecom Satellite Programs

Responsibilities
  • Lead and organize the technical project team, including system and subsystem engineers from relevant departments
  • Serve as the primary technical interface to project management and the customer
  • Define and maintain system requirements and verification strategies in alignment with project goals
  • Review and challenge ongoing development and technical designs; conduct independent analyses and initiate corrective actions as needed
  • Establish systems engineering processes to coordinate efforts across Systems Engineering, Engineering, AIT, PA/QA, SCM, and Project Management
  • Ensure effective technical communication and collaboration across all project stakeholders
  • Organize regular technical reviews; consolidate cost and technical data to define system-level budgets
  • Ensure timely delivery of all systems engineering deliverables
  • Support project management in risk assessment, cost evaluation, and overall planning
  • Collaborate with payload and satellite engineering teams to ensure coherent satellite design
  • Contribute to studies and projects in the Telecom Systems business
  • Support cost optimization efforts for OHB’s telecom platform products
Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as technical lead in phases C/D/E of space projects, ideally in telecommunication satellites
  • Extensive expertise in spacecraft and subsystem design
  • Strong background in the conceptual design of large telecom constellations
  • Proven experience across various Systems Engineering domains: Mission & System Analysis, Interface & Requirements Engineering, Verification & Validation, Planning & Scheduling, and Technical Coordination
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong commitment to project objectives
  • Able to critically assess technical baselines and drive improvements
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong team player
  • Fluent in English and German
