Job Description

Tipico is looking for an (AWS) Site Reliability Engineer (Java Platform) to join our team. Every day, you'll work in a highly collaborative and agile environment with cross‑functional team members to develop products and create technical solutions that push us forward.

Your playing field:

• You are running the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
• You are building software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications
• You are improving the reliability, quality, and time‑to‑market of our suite of software solutions
• You are measuring and optimising system performance with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating for continuous improvement
• You are providing primary operational support and engineering for multiple large‑scale distributed software applications
• You are gathering and analysing metrics from operating systems as well as applications to assist in performance tuning and fault‑finding
• You are partnering with development teams to improve services
• You are participating in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
• You are creating sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
• You are balancing feature development speed and reliability with well‑defined service‑level objectives

Qualifications

Which skills should you bring to the pitch:

• Education: Bachelor / master’s degree in computer science or an equivalent degree
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in similar positions like Senior Software Developer or Performance Lab Engineer
• Programming skills: You can program (structured and OOP) using one or more high‑level languages, such as Java, JavaScript and Python
• Subject Matter Expert: You are an expert in cloud computing technologies (AWS)
• Kubernetes: You have solid knowledge and experience working with Kubernetes (administration, optimisation, CRDs)
• CI/CD and provisioning: Proficiency in GitHub Actions, Terraform, and related tools
• Problem solving: You have a proactive approach in identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement
• Benefits: Vendor certifications (AWS) or equivalent, experience in a Java‑based development environment (Java background is a benefit)
• Language skills: Fluent in English; working knowledge of German is an advantage
