Your mission at Picea

As an Associate Scientist in the field of strain engineering, you play a central role in the development and optimization of biotechnological production organisms. You support the implementation of innovative technologies and the improvement of existing processes in order to ensure efficient and scalable laboratory workflows. In the development of high performance expression organisms, you accompany all processes from in silico planning through to the characterization of strains and proteins.


Role responsibility
  • Planning and execution of molecular biology work with filamentous fungi or yeasts (e.g. PCR, cloning, transformation, expression screening, isolation of DNA and RNA, NGS and sequencing, etc.)
  • Planning and execution of enzymatic assays for the characterization of enzymes and proteins.
  • Development and validation of assays, preparation of work instructions, protocols, and reports.
  • Identification of optimization potential and support in the implementation of improvement measures.

Your profile
  • Above average Master degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a comparable field.
  • Professional experience with molecular biology methods for P. pastoris, T. reesei, or Y. lipolytica is desirable. Knowledge of additional techniques such as NGS and protein purification is an advantage.
  • Careful, structured, and precise way of working.
  • Team spirit and ability for independent planning, careful execution, analysis, and documentation.
  • Good German and English skills, both written and spoken.
