Offer Description

The central motivation of research at the Institute of Chemical Engineering is energy and raw material transition. For this purpose, our research projects focus on thermal and chemical process engineering. In teaching, the institute runs a bachelor's program as well as an international master's program in chemical engineering.

The multinational research group "Photochemical Reaction Engineering" deals with interdisciplinary topics of light-driven reactions. The focus is on fundamental investigation, optimization and development of photoreactors from laboratory to industrial scale as well as advanced reaction control as a basis for the development of sustainable photochemical processes. The combination of experiments with theoretical studies enables knowledge-driven investigations at the interface between chemistry and process engineering with respect to an industrial as well as an academic setting, e.g. in the context of the Collaborative Research Center SFB TRR 234 CataLight or the Priority Program SPP2370 Nitroconversion, and in an industrial setting.

We offer an attractive working environment in an innovative research area and support for personal development. To join our dedicated and open-minded team, we are looking for an academic staff member who will support us in research as well as in the education of students. Within the scope of the employment, the opportunity for a doctorate is given.

  • research within the MSCA DN-ID project PROSPER on the development of high-power light sources in scalable multi-lamp photoreactors and scale-up
  • close collaboration with international project partners within the PROSPER network
  • independent handling of scientific tasks
  • conception and execution of experimental investigations
  • Characterization of heat and mass transfer of a high-power light source
  • Characterization of radiation fields in multi-lamp photoreactors
  • Development of intensification and scale-up concepts for heat transport around light sources
  • Fulfilling long-term secondments (18 month) with industrial partner Peschl Ultraviolet GmbH (Mainz, Germany)
  • contribution to teaching of chemical engineering

Seize the opportunity and join us in shaping the future of the University!
