A leading university in Germany seeks a candidate for a Professorship in Public Law. The position requires a completed university degree, a qualified doctorate, and excellent teaching and research credentials. The successful candidate must be fluent in German and will contribute to interdisciplinary teaching and research at the Faculty of Economics, Law, and Social Sciences. This role is full-time and requires a commitment to academic self-administration.
At theFaculty of Economics, Law and Social Sciencesof the University of Erfurt intends to appoint to the following Professorship at the earliest possible date:
Professorship in Public Law and Foundations of Law

The Faculty of Economics, Law and Social Sciences unites the fields of law (public law and private law), social sciences (political science and sociology), economics and public policy. In its specific teaching and research program, these subjects, though differentiated during the 19th and 20th century, are connected again. Considering the requirements of an interdisciplinary perspective on increasingly complex problems, the faculty has pioneered this approach since the early millennium years and has since become firmly established in Germany‘s university landscape.
The professorship represents the Public Law and Foundations of Law in research and teaching. The holder of the position should represent the above-mentioned fields of public law in research and teaching at the Faculty of Economics, Law and Social Sciences, in particular in the subjects of modern legal history and theory of law. The Faculty takes an interdisciplinary approach to its subjects. The holder of the position is expected to contribute to teaching in the courses of the Faculty, some of which are taught in English.
In addition, the tasks are specified in Section 83 of the Thuringian Higher Education Act (ThürHG).
In addition to the general requirements under civil service law, the employment requirements pursuant to Section 84 ThürHG must be fulfilled. These include in particular a completed university degree, pedagogical competence, a qualified doctorate and a record of excellent research contributions as well as teaching experience in the above-mentioned areas, especially constitutional and administrative law, if possible also with international and European dimensions or constitutional-historical references, proven experience in the acquisition of third-party funding and postdoctorate Habilitation or habilitation equivalent achievements. Special emphasis is placed on the ability to link research andteaching to the other fields of study of the Faculty of Economics, Law and Social Sciences. Thesuccessful candidate is further expected to have a good command of both written and spokenGerman (reading and listening skills at CEFR level B2, writing and speaking skills at level B1).

Career track professors are usually appointed to a permanent W2 professorship from the outset. Following a successful career evaluation as part of the University of Erfurt's Career Track Program the professorship is expected to be continued on a permanent basis as a W3 professorship.
