The Role:
Raw Material Strategic Sourcing
- Identifies and forecasts multi-year savings opportunities and leads strategic initiatives and savings projects as required.
- Creates sourcing strategies to identify, evaluate and negotiate with suppliers to ensure stable and competitive raw material supply using the ERCO’s 8 step sourcing process.
- Monitor commodity prices, supply chain risks and industry trends to allow rapid and sound decision-making.
- Builds solid supplier relationships while continually identifying and sourcing new suppliers and alternative commodities with cost reduction motivation.
- Fosters a culture of savings and value with colleagues and stakeholders.
Operational
- Procures goods and services on budget with on time delivery.
- Manages supplier selection to ensure price, quality, support and reliability are optimized to meet company requirements and objectives. Focuses on total cost of ownership.
- Monitors supplier compliance with contractual agreements.
- Measures and troubleshoots supplier cost, quality, shipping and delivery performance.
- Collaborates with relevant business unit stakeholders (plants) and departments to integrate procurement with demand planning to maintain inventory levels and manage requirements.
- Identifies critical business requirements and achieves or exceeds stakeholder expectations.
- Simplifies technical details for commercial discussions with suppliers, facilitates timely placement of contracts, agreements and orders.
- Audits contracts and purchase order history including legal aspects.
System & Process
- Supports optimization of the Source to Pay process with user support, content management and adoption.
Responsible Care/ISO Management
- Drives supplier sustainability score improvements across raw materials inclusive of corporate social responsibility and green house gas reduction.
- Continual improvement of purchasing policies, procedures and best practices.
- Oversee supplier compliance with internal quality standards and external regulations.
Reporting and other duties as assigned
- Produce regular reports and insights on spend, purchase commitments, costs and delivery performance.
- Assist with developing purchasing objectives, budgets and forecasts.
- Accountable for achievement of departmental objectives.
The Person:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Chemical Engineering is required.
- Knowledge of purchasing and supply chain, best practices via SCMAO Accreditation.
- E1 and Coupa or other P2P software knowledge/experience.
- Supply Chain, Procurement, Chemical Industry experience preferred. Requires technical assistance knowledge (chemical field) and strong analytical skills. Strong analytical and communication skills.
