To be eligible, youth must :
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
- International students are not eligible participants. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student's time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market. Learn more.
FOODBANK OUTREACH WORKER (CSJ)
TERM : Fixed Term Contract
PERIOD : 8 weeks
SALARY : $17.92 / HOUR, hourly for 32 hours per week
OVERVIEW : The Assistant Warehouse Manager is responsible for assisting the Food Bank Coordinator in all aspects of the delivery service, including administrative tasks, merchandising, organizing & receiving processes, serving clients, social media promotion, and managing the organization, processing, and shipping of goods with various partners.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS :
- Excellent communication skills (English required, French an asset)
- Good organization and time management skills
- Experience in organization and/or warehouse logistics or management
- Ability to work independently
- Strong understanding of, and commitment to, equality
- Proficiency in navigating computers, generating reports (Excel), and using web portal software
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS :
- Self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks
- Flexible and attentive to detail
- Willingness to do what it takes to keep the workspace clean and organized
ASSETS (NOT A PREREQUISITE) :
Experience moving palettes of merchandise and boxing items
RESPONSIBILITIES :
The main responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Act as the Team Leader of the Food Bank's Volunteer Team
- Perform administrative tasks for the food bank and City Serve initiatives (weekly activity logs, reports)
- Answer phone and email inquiries
- Maintain the appearance, condition, and safety of the Food Bank and warehouse
- Maintain inventory database and accurate usage records
