THE CHILDREN’S COTTAGE SOCIETY: CRISIS NURSERY Cook-Relief #CN-COOKRThe Children’s Cottage Society, established in Calgary in 1986, provides crisis nursery, community respite, and family support programs to more than 3,500 children a year. The Society’s mission is to “Build strong children and safe, nurturing families through prevention programs and support services” and our vision is “Resilient children blossom in healthy families.”The Crisis Nursery provides 24 hour care for three day periods for up to 20 children under the age of eight when their families are in crisis and have no other alternatives for childcare help.Reporting to the Crisis Nursery Manager, the Relief Cook is responsible for overseeing the kitchen, doing housekeeping duties, and cooking lunch and supper for children, volunteers and child care workers.Qualifications:

• Education in Safe Food Handling
• Minimum 2 years’ experience cooking in a home-like environment

Responsibilities:

• Prepares menus as designated by the Full Time
• Cook a variety of meals
• Carries out the designated cleaning routine. Ensure kitchen and appliances are thoroughly cleaned and ready for the Weekday staff.
• Appropriately documents work
• Ensures kitchen area is left clean after
• Assists with other position-related tasks as directed by the Manager.
• Ensures kitchen and storage area of the house follows the directions of public health.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

• A Police Information Check, which includes a vulnerable sector search, is required prior to employment.
• A Child Intervention Record Check is required prior to employment.
