The Norstar Group is an innovative and diversified group of companies based in Edmonton serving the Environmental and Agricultural industries. We are passionate about what we do and we are seeking a talented Accountant for a Maternity Leave position.*Job Summary:*Reporting to the Controller, and joining our accounting team, the Accountant will be experienced in a variety of accounting duties, including financial statements preparation, account reconciliations and account analysis as well as other accounting related duties.*Key Responsibilities:** Prepare monthly financial statements, including various schedules, accruals, and journal entries accurately and on time* Perform monthly account reconciliations on a timely basis (e.g., bank & intercompany reconciliations, Fixed Asset & Capital Lease schedules etc)* Prepare and file GST and PST returns* Process a biweekly payroll for 25 to 30 employees* Support and mentor our AR-AP Accounting Assistant* Provide detailed analysis as required on specific issues / projects when required* Other duties as assigned from time to time*Competencies & Attributes:** Keen attention to detail* Demonstrate a high-level of accountability* Demonstrate a passion for your work* Excellent verbal and written communication skills* Excellent interpersonal and organization skills*Qualifications:** Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation* 4-5 years of operational accounting experience* Works independently or in teams* Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service* Advanced computer skills using accounting software.* Experience with Sage 50 and with Dayforce / Ceridian payroll is an asset.* Very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, with excellent knowledge of ExcelJob Types: Full-time, PermanentPay: $72,000.00-$84,000.00 per yearBenefits:* Casual dress* Dental care* Extended health care* Life insurance* On-site parkingExperience:* Accounting: 4 years (required)Licence/Certification:* Chartered Professional Accountant (required)Work Location: In personApplication deadline: 2025-08-15Expected start date: 2025-08-25
