As part of the senior management team within SaskTel’s Business Sales & Solutions department, this position is accountable for overall leadership in IT infrastructure, service implementation, service support, professional services delivery, IT vendor/partner management and tactical planning. This role reports to the Director of Business Development (SIS) and leads a multi-functional team dedicated to proactively delivering exceptional customer service through operational excellence in Collaboration Services, Network Services, Data Centre and Cloud Services, and Solution Design & Delivery. This role works in partnership with the Sales and Marketing Director to develop and lead an entrepreneurial team that has a desire to become the best at exceeding customer expectations through the delivery of highly available and innovative solutions.
Specific Accountabilities
- Data Centre Management: Accountable for managing daily operations and overall administration of SaskTel data centres, including their design with IS and Corporate Services, and provisioning to meet organizational needs.
- ICT IT Infrastructure: Accountable for managing network, compute, and storage environments, selecting ICT technologies, defining architecture, overseeing maintenance, ensuring server security, and administering employee access effectively.
- Service Implementation: Responsible for managing service and product implementations, overseeing change and configuration management, ensuring quality and documentation, conducting proof of concept planning, establishing IT policies, maintaining service level agreements, managing performance and capacity, producing customer reports, and driving continual service improvement.
- Service Support: Responsible for implementing best practice procedures, IT standard processes like ITIL and CMM, and controls to improve efficiency, security, and effectiveness. Also, ensures governance with metrics for compliance and productivity, manages ICT Services operations, and delivers 24/7 tier 2-3 technical application support.
- Professional Services Delivery: Responsible for leading and coaching the Professional Services team to ensure success in selling and delivering services, building a competitive team to assist customers with innovative solutions, and driving revenue growth and new business opportunities through expert consultation.
- IT Vendor/Partner Management: Responsible for technical vendor negotiations, resource augmentation, management of T4 vendor support organizations, IT infrastructure procurement, software license management, and contract negotiations, including annual renewals.
- Tactical Planning – Departmental (1-3 years): Responsible for infrastructure planning aligned with ICT objectives, data centre capacity planning, staying updated on technology trends, collaborating with providers to manage cost-effective solutions, and preparing annual work plans and budgets while controlling costs to meet corporate targets efficiently.
- Corporate Image Promotion: Promotes a positive corporate image and demonstrates SaskTel's corporate values while establishing and maintaining professional, courteous and effective communication and liaison with internal and external customers and associated departments. Meets with external customers to understand business requirements, conduct service level reviews and address service issues.
- Build Competency Based Teams: Accountable to define and build competency-based teams and provide development to address evolving customer demands and technology initiatives. Provides a supportive work environment that motivates staff by providing regular performance feedback. Assists in staff career pathing, development and succession planning to ensure business requirements are met.
- Business Continuity Planning: Accountable to minimize and mitigate exposure and impact to business-critical processes through the effective implementation of Business Continuity Plans and in accordance with responsibilities outlined in the Corporate BCM Policy, the Emergency Operations Procedures and the Emergency Alert Procedures.
Qualifications
- University degree in Information Technology, Engineering/OR equivalent combination of education and business experience.
- Extensive experience in the application of information technology principles and techniques, IT architecture and planning methodologies.
- Demonstrated analytical, business and technical leadership in delivering IT products and services with a focus on customer needs and expectations.
- Strong team leader and member, able to select and develop staff and able to influence others to take action.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to embrace new concepts and opportunities and manage change within a diverse and rapidly changing environment.
- Must display broad conceptual skills and ability to integrate numerous activities while working across divisions and/or functional groups.
