Responsible for providing field technical service and support at BFG Enterprise Services customer sites across Canada, by performing connectivity and hardware troubleshooting and repair in a positive and professional manner.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Perform connectivity and hardware troubleshooting and repair; perform Outlook setup and administration.
2. Identify and repair hardware issues in a POS environment; replace scanners, scales, pin pads, printers, and workstations.
3. Ensure all on-site support services and repairs are completed by verifying operations, maintaining quality levels, and documenting work performed.
4. Maintain a safe and organized work area by observing all safety policies and applying required safety training.
5. Travel as needed to troubleshoot at customer sites within the assigned area.
6. Be available for rotational shifts, including days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and stand-by 24/7.
7. Prepare field reports as required.
8. Liaise with Help Desk on escalated issues.
9. Investigate and diagnose customer issues using technical expertise in a timely and professional manner.
10. Install, fish, dress, cross connect, and terminate UTP, coaxial, and fiber optic cables.
11. Test, review, and troubleshoot installed systems.
12. Install network infrastructure equipment such as switches, routers, servers, DSL modems, wireless access points, cameras, and security systems.
13. Troubleshoot cabling, hardware, and network issues in the field.
14. Operate hand and power tools.
15. Apply proficient computer skills and solid knowledge of computer networking.
16. Maintain a positive and professional attitude and communicate respectfully with all parties.
17. Work independently and collaboratively to achieve project and site objectives.

Occupational Requirements:

Technical Requirements:

• CompTIA A+ Certification
• Minimum university degree in information technology or related field
• 3-5 years of experience in IT field services or equivalent
• Experience with POS systems in retail environments
• Experience with remote management software (asset)
• Experience troubleshooting cabling, hardware, and network issues in the field
• Familiarity with network equipment (routers, switches, desktops, printers, servers)
• Valid driver’s license and clean abstract for company vehicle use
• Ability to operate hand and power tools
• Proficient computer skills and solid networking knowledge
