BWXT’s Technical Services Group (TSG) manages and conducts high-consequence operations within government-owned facilities that require uncompromising discipline. We are poised to meet the nation’s defense, energy and environmental demands through an array of management, operational and technical services.

This position is assigned to the BWXT-led Nuclear Laboratories Partners of Canada (NLPC) contract and is responsible for pursuit, capture, and full-cycle management of complex non-capital projects within the Project Management Office (PMO). This role ensures projects are executed to financial, technical, and client satisfaction standards across operational and regulatory initiatives.

We are seeking a highly skilled, high-energy and results oriented Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee construction projects in the nuclear industry. This role requires a deep understanding of nuclear regulations, project management principles, and strong leadership abilities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex projects from conception to completion, while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
  • Lead and manage large-scale construction projects within the nuclear sector, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Negotiate scope, contracts, and critical outcomes with internal and client stakeholders.
  • Apply advanced business acumen to improve project margin, resource efficiency, and schedule fidelity.
  • Drive change management, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee financial performance, reporting, and client communications to ensure project transparency and satisfaction.
Planning & Execution
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies.
  • Oversee the execution of construction activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Team Management
  • Build, mentor, and manage a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment while providing guidance and support.
Risk Management
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct regular assessments to ensure project stays on track and within budget.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, clients, and team members.
  • Present project updates, addressing any concerns and modifications to scope as needed.
Quality Assurance
  • Establish quality assurance and control procedures to ensure the highest standards are met throughout the construction process.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and reports to track progress and provide updates to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all governmental and industry regulations, maintaining an audit-ready state.
Job Description / Duties
  • Lead complex projects from initiation through closeout, including operational programs, regulatory compliance initiatives, and strategic development efforts.
  • Develop tailored project execution plans using industry best practices and internal capabilities to maximize value and outcomes.
  • Direct multidisciplinary teams, including Project and Discipline Managers, toward shared performance goals.
  • Negotiate scope, contracts, and critical outcomes with internal and client stakeholders.
  • Apply advanced business acumen to improve project margin, resource efficiency, and schedule fidelity.
  • Drive change management, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee financial performance, reporting, and client communications to ensure project transparency and satisfaction.
Job Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, science, or other relevant field (technical degree strongly preferred).
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in project management, including at least 10 years managing large-scale projects in technical or regulated environments.
  • Proven success leading projects valued between $100 million and $1 billion, with full accountability for scope, schedule, cost, and technical delivery.
  • Strong experience in EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation) planning and execution strategies.
  • Advanced knowledge of project cost optimization, risk/opportunity management, and change control.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across internal business units and client organizations.
  • Excellent leadership skills with consistent success managing diverse project teams and functional leads.
  • PMP certification or in-progress; certification as a licensed professional is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Prior success in developing long-term client relationships that result in repeat business.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Canadian security clearance.
  • On-site presence required near Chalk River Site, Ontario. Relocation or travel benefits are available for eligible candidates.
