We are currently seeking Health Care Aides to join our team. The role involves providing hands-on personal care services, light housekeeping, meal service assistance, and participation in social-recreational activities.
Please note: This is a Temporary position for Summer 2025.
Responsibilities
- Perform light housekeeping in resident suites and common areas.
- Support personal care activities such as dressing, bathing, and managing incontinence.
- Assist with simple transfers and respond to medical emergencies calmly.
- Support resident laundry and meal service as needed.
- Follow Care Plans and report any changes or concerns.
- Work with residents to meet their care requirements.
- Demonstrate ongoing competence using knowledge, skills, judgment, and evidence-based practices in caring for aging adults.
- Ensure compliance with provincial continuing care health service standards, legislation, codes, regulations, and safety statutes.
- Maintain awareness of accident and injury prevention through safe work practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of provincial Health Care Aide certification.
- Registration with provincial health care registry.
- Experience in a residential care setting is preferred.
- Demonstrate infection control procedures.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with peers, residents, visitors, and operational partners.
- Superior organizational skills to handle multiple resident requests.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and problem-solve effectively.
- Flexibility to work various shifts.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Display compassion, proficiency, and experience in assisting residents.
Conditions of Employment
- Completion of CPR and First Aid.
- Clear Police Information Check.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
