This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent part-time position working 40 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

Who we are

The Young Offenders Facility (YOF) provides direct supervision, care, and custody of youth aged 12 to 17 at the time of offence under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth in custody at YOF often have complex histories or risk factors including substance use, mental health diagnoses, exposure to abusive/traumatic situations, challenging socioeconomic factors, gang affiliation, gender diversity, and/or various cultural and spiritual backgrounds.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking Youth Service Workers who aim to establish positive and professional relationships with youth through therapeutic and trauma-informed practices. This involves cultural understanding, rehabilitative programming, positive leadership, boundary reinforcement, and adherence to operational policies and procedures. As a Youth Service Worker, you should have a genuine interest in working with youth to build resiliency, pro-social skills, and protective factors to reduce re-offending, while ensuring the safety, security, and confidentiality of youth, staff, facility, and community.
