Water Treatment Operator

THE ROLE:

The Water Treatment Operator oversees monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of water treatment infrastructure to ensure safety, compliance, and operational standards. Responsibilities include conducting water quality analyses, managing chemical inventories, and collaborating with internal teams and external contractors to optimize process performance and effluent quality at the Wheeler River Uranium Project – Phoenix Deposit.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

With a strong commitment to safety, the ideal candidate has technical and organizational competencies, hands-on experience in operating water treatment systems, and the ability to work in dynamic environments. Qualifications include:

  • Qualified to serve as the Direct Responsible Charge (DRC) for remote, modular Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants.
  • Valid Class 3 Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate.
  • Valid Class 1 Water Treatment Operator Certificate.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in water treatment systems, preferably remotely.
  • Experience with Membrane Bioreactor Technology is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP, CMMS, and SCADA systems is an asset.
  • Willingness to train and mentor others, perform physical tasks, and maintain organizational standards.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Water Treatment Operations:

  • Operate and monitor water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Conduct sampling, testing, and quality control.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Adhere to environmental permits, safety protocols, and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of performance, maintenance, and compliance.

Additional responsibilities include chemical handling, site and equipment management, and supporting emergency drills and safety protocols.

The role initially involves working out of Saskatoon, with travel to project sites in northern Saskatchewan, and transitioning to a site-based schedule once operations commence. The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in Canada and willing to undergo background checks.
