This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location in the Point of Care Diagnostics division. Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas including infections, disease cardiometabolic informatics and toxicology. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments and informatics systems is often the first step in patient care decision making for conditions ranging from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers. As a member of the Print Manufacturing Operations team you will fulfill the role of a Wafer Fab Operator II (Print).
Position Overview
Your primary responsibility in this role is to act as part of the team working safely in a cleanroom environment to achieve established production goals and metrics for the Print Operations Department. Your workstations may support Component Printers (which produce covers and bases for final cartridges) and Wafer Printers (which produce wafers for final cartridges). It is expected that you have met the required qualifications and responsibilities of a Print Operator I and have intermediate knowledge and experience on a combination of Wafer and Component Print processes. Training in another department that supports manufacturing processes within Abbott Point of Care or equivalent external knowledge and experience may be required.
What You'll Do
- Operate equipment and materials safely and observe all safety and security procedures associated with running assigned workstations (Component Print and/or Wafer Print).
- Use computers to assess visual images for inspections, perform manual inspections, and record data using software to track steps for your workstation.
- Meet standards with a commitment to excellence; look for ways to improve quality and efficiencies and use the idea program to share ideas.
- Achieve error-free work and comply with all process procedures for tasks within the assigned workstation.
- Keep workstation tidy with daily wipe-downs and maintain cleanliness throughout the shift; follow FIFO (First In First Out).
- Monitor yields and equipment; notify support staff when problems are identified.
- Perform inline inspections according to applicable documentation for the workstation.
- Demonstrate a commitment to increasing productivity and work at a pace to meet goals.
- Perform ergonomic stretches at least twice per shift and ensure adherence to ergonomic requirements.
- Restock supplies, receive daily wafer/component shipments, prepare shipments, and fill in log sheets as required.
- As Operator II, support either Component Print or Wafer Print, with training to run all relevant printers/types and a combination to support both printed sub-components and wafers as needed.
- Work independently and support engineering studies when required.
- Resolve most routine process/production problems within the workstation; escalate and communicate issues clearly to support teams (Process Optech Engineering Team and Equipment Tech).
- Use parallel processing skills to assist as directed by Team Leader or Supervisor during bottlenecks or resourcing shortages.
- Perform ICOS inspections on wafers and provide break coverage for priority printers.
- Support cross-training with other departments and assist with training new team members; compile shift notes at the end of shift.
- Be punctual and ready at shift start; use Kronos for timekeeping; communicate time-off needs in advance.
- Lift up to 20 lbs as required for safe handling of wafer boxes and totes.
- Contribute as a team member, act as a role model for behavior and performance to entry-level colleagues, and ensure training records are completed on time.
- Understand and comply with EH&S policies; identify and report unsafe hazards within the Print room.
- Other duties may be requested to support the department or business.
Shift
Night C Fixed Sunday Monday Tuesday and every other Saturday from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma
- One to three years of manufacturing experience
- Competent in data entry and using software to support the assigned workstation (MS-Office and Traksuite)
- Highly motivated to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work at the workstation to meet schedule
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task
- Adaptable to changing priorities and able to pivot duties when required
- Excellent written and verbal communication with colleagues and supervisors
- Ability to form professional relationships and maintain appropriate behavior
Preferred
- Knowledge in Manufacturing Operations
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Cleanroom Environment
- Experience in regulated environments (ISO, GMP, FDA)
