Overview

FORM is looking for a VP Finance to be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for leading the company’s financial strategy, operations, and planning. The candidate will demonstrate a solution-based mindset and thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Primary responsibilities include raising capital, building financial models, financial and tax reporting and compliance, and investor relations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling, with ownership of short- and long-term financial plans
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with business goals
  • Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting that promotes a culture of accountability across the organization
  • Maintain a deep focus on cash and cashflow, ensuring the company’s short- and long-term needs are anticipated, monitored, and managed effectively
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial systems, processes, and tools to drive efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to support cross-functional and departmental initiatives
  • Lead the relationship with external advisors, including tax, audit, legal, and banking partners
  • Proactively identifies financial risks and opportunities early, drives scenario planning, and challenges the team to address issues before they escalate
  • Prepare investor materials and support the CEO with fundraising-related activities including capital strategy, investor diligence, and financial modeling
  • Support the CEO with financial communications to the Board of Directors and shareholders
  • Support the CEO and executive team in developing and implementing the company’s strategic vision and financial objectives
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Qualified professional accountant (CPA or equivalent) with a strong work ethic, integrity with excellent analytical and problem solving abilities
  • A deep understanding of SaaS KPI metrics
  • Demonstrated experience raising equity capital and negotiating debt financing agreements
  • Strong background in raising both debt and equity growth financing
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a similar role and level of responsibilities
  • Experience with both hardware and SaaS companies is a strong asset
  • A demonstrated ability to lead teams through the phases of a growing start-up
  • A proven track record of excellent internal and external financial and KPI reporting in a complex, multi-currency environment
  • International (US and Europe preferred) and Canadian tax and accounting experience
  • Experience with Canadian government grant and tax credits, in particular SR&ED
  • Analytically driven, with proven success in translating data into insights and action
  • Clear communication skills and ability to explain financial concepts to a broad audience
Additional Skills
  • Experience in consumer electronics, fitness, or wearable electronics is an asset
  • Adaptable to changing business conditions and priorities
Compensation

This role has an annual salary range of $150,000 to $190,000. Most new hires do not start at the top of the range. Offers are typically based on a candidate’s experience, skills, and alignment with the role. Starting salaries on the lower end may apply to candidates with strong potential who are newer to this level of responsibility, while salaries at the top of the range are reserved for those with deep, directly relevant experience and a track record of success in similar environments.
