Job description
The Role

Reporting to the CEO and as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President, Human Resources plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s business and human resources (HR) strategy. Serving as a strategic advisor and trusted partner to the CEO and other senior leaders, this role is accountable for aligning human resources priorities with business objectives to drive organizational performance and long-term success. The Vice President, Human Resources provides visionary leadership to the HR team, overseeing all aspects of HR Operations, Payroll and Talent Management and aligning the team to understand business goals, issues, needs and proactively identifying and resolving opportunities impacting outcomes. This role is instrumental in fostering a performance centered, inclusive and purpose-driven workplace prioritizing the employee experience and shaping a workplace where everyone can grow, belong, and succeed.

Strategy and Leadership

Collaborate with executive leadership to create and drive organizational strategy

Develops and executes a comprehensive HR scorecard aligned with the Co-operative’s vision, mission, values and goals

Establishes local HR frameworks, standards, policies and best practices to meet the evolving needs of the business

Partners with other leaders to foster leadership alignment and offer insight organizational design, talent planning and workforce effectiveness

Proactively anticipates and assesses needs, gaps, and challenges, developing solutions to address risks and opportunities

Provides thoughtful guidance on complex HR and organizational matters, balancing strategic priorities, risks and operational excellence.

HR Operations and Efficiencies

Oversee key HR areas and provide guidance on talent management, employee relations, labour relations and payroll, as well as all people related programs and processes; consult with centralized service providers

Ensures adoption and continuous adaptation of a new HRMS and alignment of internal HR processes

Oversees implementation of total rewards framework and ensures alignment for the annual compensation cycle; collaborates with Finance to provide accurate and timely financial reporting

Provides leadership, mentorship and strategic direction to HR team leaders

Utilizes HR analytics and workforce metrics to drive data informed decision making

Ensures legal and regulatory compliance across the association; proactively identify and address HR-related legislative and regulatory risks

Creates, monitors, manages and reports on the budget for all HR functions

Upholds high standards of values, ethics, privacy and confidentiality, brand and inclusion efforts in all HR practices

Qualifications

Minimum 10 years’ experience of progressive HR leadership

Experience in HR strategy, talent management, labour relations; payroll and HRMS experience considered an asset

Bachelor’s Degree majoring in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field with Professional HR Certifications; CPHR preferred

Possesses a strategic, business-focused mindset with a broad understanding of business issues, metrics and organizational linkages; proven success at aligning HR strategy with business goals in a fast-paced, evolving business environment

Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to adapt to the presenting needs

Effectively able to communicate across all audiences in various forums utilizing multiple mediums

This is an in -person, permanent full-time position is located in Saskatoon. Some regional travel and time outside of regular office hours may be required.
