Ethos Veterinary Health offers externship opportunities at the only 24-hour emergency animal hospital in the BC Southern Interior. This externship provides practical experience for third and fourth-year veterinary students in emergency and critical care settings alongside skilled professionals in a supportive environment.
Applicants must be third or fourth-year students of accredited domestic or international veterinary schools, pursuing a DVM, VMD, or foreign equivalent.
Fairfield Animal Hospital is the only 24-hour emergency animal hospital in the BC Southern Interior. We are open 24/7, including holidays, and operate solely on an emergency triage basis, not routine appointments.
Our hospital utilizes Ultrasound (Afast/Tfast), CT, Digital radiography, and in-house labs for diagnostics. Our technical team is skilled and motivated, trained in Recover CPR, with teamwork as a core focus.
An externship at Ethos Emergency Hospital provides students with real-life clinical experience in emergency and critical care, working alongside experienced clinicians, criticalists (site dependent), interns, and residents. Skills practiced or observed include examinations, anesthesia, surgical procedures, catheterization, ultrasound, and other diagnostics.
Externship durations range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. These opportunities are available to 3rd and 4th-year veterinary students.
