KEY OBJECTIVE:

As a key member of the commercial underwriting department, this individual is responsible for independently managing a diverse portfolio of Commercial Property & Casualty business with a focus on Retention, Account Rounding, New Business, Renewal Change and Profit goals while establishing and maintaining healthy relationships with assigned brokers.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gather and analyze account information and make underwriting recommendations and decisions.

  • Risk selection, coverage negotiation and pricing adequacy on new or renewal business.

  • Contribute to differentiated Customer Retention and Sales results.

  • Identify prospects or account rounding opportunities and actively manage and pursue

  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with brokers and key clients.

  • Develop customer-centric renewal strategies that align with the Company’s financial goals.

  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to an engaging work environment.

  • Handle individual risk inquiries/correspondence from brokers and make appropriate decisions.

  • Monitor booking, retention, account rounding, and renewal change accuracy.

  • Contribute to projects to both improve the business and continually develop personal skills.

Qualifications
  • University degree and/or equivalent insurance-related education and experience.

  • 2 to 5 years of property and casualty underwriting experience is required (Commercial experience preferred).

  • Demonstrated analytical and risk underwriting skills.

  • Strong oral and written communications skills.

  • Strong organization and time management skills.

  • High level of responsiveness and efficiency when working with stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated track record of customer service orientation and proven ability to foster strong business relationships.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment in a multi-task environment.

  • Regional broker relationship management considered an asset.
