Job summary

A leading automotive company in York Region, Markham, is seeking a Treasury Analyst responsible for optimizing treasury activities including cash management and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in financial services, a degree in Finance or related field, and strong Excel skills. The role supports borrowing activities and develops hedging strategies. The salary range is CAD 72,921 – 91,151 annually, with a hybrid work opportunity.

Qualifications

Job description

The Treasury Analyst is responsible for supporting optimal operation of Treasury activities, which include borrowing capital, hedging interest rate risk and managing cash. As part of a supportive team, the role facilitates borrowing activities for commercial paper, bank loans, unsecured notes and securitizations. To round out the experience, the role is deeply involved in the accounting and controls of Treasury. The role provides comprehensive exposure to support learning and growth.

Responsibilities
  • Operate daily cash management activities including, but not limited to, bank reconciliation, commercial papers issuance, CSA collateral management, cash forecasting and wire payments.
  • Acquire a solid understanding of Honda Canada Finance Inc.(HCFI) ’s products and services to identify levers and drivers of cash balances and optimize treasury income.
  • Provide morning market update rate movements - CORRA, Swap, and OIS rates to senior management.
  • Manage the on-going upkeep of HCFI’s treasury management system; enter/validate benchmark rate/trade entries and perform monthly reconciliations.
  • Support HCFI's unsecured funding programs (MTN, credit facilities, bank loans) and secured funding programs including the preparation of monthly servicer reports and related journal entries.
  • Propose monthly hedging strategy and execute interest rate derivatives to hedge assets and manage liabilities. Analyze monthly hedging activities and counterparties risk exposures.
  • Perform month-end analysis on the business impacts of hedging strategies.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly and quarter-end financial and management reports to department leaders and senior management.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors as required.
  • Streamline processes to optimize efficiency while maintaining robust internal controls.
  • Review and analyze legal documentation for ABS transactions as required from time to time.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Treasury Manager and/or Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or equivalent is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in financial services with demonstrated experience in accounting, finance or capital markets.
  • Industry certification (CPA, CFA, CTP) or working towards would be an asset.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to articulate and communicate complex financial concepts to non-treasury audiences.
  • Experience with asset securitization would be an asset.
  • Experience with analyzing legal documents would be an asset.
  • Experience in the automotive industry would an asset.
  • Familiarity with accounting processes and SOX audit would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems, PeopleSoft preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills required.
HIRING PRACTICES

The salary range for this position is $ 72,921 –$ 91,151 CAD annually. Individual salaries within this range are determined by a variety of job-related factors, including education, experience, knowledge, and skill set.

This is an on-site with occasional work-from-home position that requires employees to work on-site four days per week with the opportunity to work-from-home one day per week. (with a dedicated workspace at the assigned company office).
