A municipal transit authority in Metro Vancouver seeks a Transit Operator for a permanent full-time role. Responsibilities include safely operating transit vehicles, providing customer service, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. Ideal candidates will possess a Class 2 Driver’s Licence, experience in driving similar vehicles, and strong communication skills. West Vancouver Transit is calling for applications from drivers wishing to be considered to join our highly qualified team. Our conventional Transit Operators are key representatives of a transit organization rich in history dating back to 1912, dedicated to customer service, safety, and reliability. Transit Operators must be capable of accomplishing multiple tasks in a complex environment while demonstrating superior communication skills to deal effectively with the public. While working under established policies and procedures, Transit Operators work closely with departmental staff and must be able to exercise discretion and sound judgement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
The successful candidate will possess: a minimum Class 2 Driver’s Licence with air brake endorsement; a driver’s abstract which demonstrates a history of safe, reliable legal driving; experience operating a bus, truck or similar vehicle; and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with the public. An acceptable Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector and a copy of their credentials are required. Union (ATU) – Permanent Full-Time
40 hours per week, hours vary based on a sign‑up system. All shifts will start and end on the North Shore.
$29.34 per hour after training, with the rate increasing every six months for the first two years until the top rate is reached. Current top rate: $39.12 per hour.
