Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Mechanical Maintenance within the Facilities Division, the HVAC / Mechanical Tradesperson is responsible for a variety of projects including renovations, repairs, and new installations in over 140 school district sites and offices. The successful applicant must be a team-player ready to be part of a cohesive, effective team of professionals in this busy department of A & B Gasfitters, Plumbers, HVACR Mechanics, who hold great pride in their work. The department requires applicants to be prepared to work effectively in a small team as well as independently to complete top-quality work in various District facilities. Experience and training in institutional facilities is a bonus. The successful applicant will have access to top-quality tools and equipment, a well-maintained fleet of vehicles and the District Facilities Centre located in the heart of Surrey.

The Mechanical Tradesperson position typically works 7:00 to 3:00, Monday to Friday, with shift times potentially varying including some afternoon work.

Qualifications
  • BCTQ in an applicable trade, ideally Millwright, Gas Fitter or Refrigeration, or another trade with experience in a variety of HVAC / Mechanical work
  • Class “B” Gas Ticket (Class “A” ticket or electrical endorsement is a bonus)
  • Knowledge of direct digital control (DDC)
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license
  • Sufficient physical strength and health to perform the duties of the position

This is a unionized position that offers an hourly wage rate of $40.65 plus a benefits package (municipal pension, health, vacation & sick benefits). The effective date is per collective agreement.
