What You’ll Do – The Role (Responsibilities)
- Manage sales with the aim of achieving gross margins and sales revenue that exceed forecasts.
- Territory Development:
- Identify, develop, and execute plan to penetrate and maintain accounts for sustainable business.
- Provide budgets and forecasts as requested.
- Assist the Company in developing stronger relationships with its customers – primary focus on electrical contractors and consulting engineers, secondary on B2B end users, municipalities, utilities, etc.
- Visit and work with potential and existing customers to sell the Company’s products:
- Actively pursue sales opportunities.
- Create timely and accurate estimates and quotations.
- Read and interpret engineered specifications and create proposals to meet project closing deadlines.
- Proactively consult with engineers to clarify specifications and determine exact equipment to bid.
- Prepare, coordinate, and make presentations.
- Perform site visits.
- Travel the territory to ensure all products sold by the company are fully marketed and/or represented to potential customers.
- Ensure full and complete geographical coverage.
- Collaborate with Sales Team colleagues to promote products and facilitate smooth projects.
- Actively pursue information that will benefit the sales team (e.g., names of upcoming projects, successful bidders, pricing feedback).
- Assist Project Management team with smooth and accurate project administration.
- Assist engineers in writing specifications and work with them as a partner to have the Company named and specified as the recommended supplier.
- Prepare, coordinate, and assist with presentations to the engineering community as required.
- Regularly and accurately populate the company’s business tracking tools, such as Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
- Develop and maintain a customer and prospect listing.
- Take a proactive approach to resolving customer complaints and disputes.
- Work harmoniously with other departments, ensuring the company’s common goal of being a dominant provider of our products and services is met.
- Present a professional image to the company’s customers and suppliers, maintaining the highest ethical standards of conduct.
Assigned Markets, Accounts, and Territories
Your focus area will be Southern Alberta, and your Regional Sales Manager will communicate specifics of your target accounts, assigned markets, and territory as to be defined to align with our strategic go-to-market plans. This detail will be provided after direct consultation with your Regional Sales Manager.
What You Need (Requirement)
- Minimum 5 years successful sales experience in a related industry.
- Completion of related college or university degree.
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License and a reliable personal vehicle.
- An electrical aptitude and/or employment background is considered an asset.
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers and potential customers.
- Well‑developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with demonstrated effective time management skills and the ability to multi‑task.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office modules, Microsoft Excel, and CRM.
- Maintain a well‑organized, clean work area.
- Follow all Company Health and Safety Policies and Guidelines and Privacy Policies.
- Good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills.
- Strong problem identification and resolution skills.
- Adhere to all Company and Governmental Health and Safety rules and regulations, never compromising safety.
- In the case of a power outage or declared State of Emergency by any level of Government, be available for work.
- Other tasks and responsibilities may be required from time to time consistent with this position and the job description and duties set out herein.
Working Conditions
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
- Overtime as required.
- Lifting or moving up to 25 lbs may be required.
- Frequent local travel required.
- Possible, although seldom, travel away from home branch.
