Overview

The City of Kitchener is seeking candidates to fill temporary labourer positions in the Roads and Traffic division.

(Temporary Full Time for Approximately 5 Months)

Responsibilities
  • Asphalt-related repairs and maintenance of roads.
  • Concrete related repairs and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, and manholes.
  • Maintaining waste receptacles, cleaning up garbage and debris from streets, sidewalks and alleys in the Downtown core, as well as on City & Regional roadways, city-owned property, bush & dense bush areas and parkland.
  • Winter work includes snow plowing and salting.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience & Additional Requirements
  • Valid MTO DZ class driver's license in good standing and ability to provide Driver's Abstract.
  • Available for winter call outs as required.
  • Shift work may be required for winter maintenance activities.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
Education
  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.

  • Good communication skills with an ability to keep accurate written records.
  • Able to perform a wide variety of duties including manual labour and be prepared to be trained in the operation of all related equipment and work skills.
