Job Description
Definition of Work

The Property Service Worker is a team member of the Wiseman Centre, a faith based program, who is responsible for the general cleaning maintenance of the Centre.

Execution of Position

The Property Service Worker is responsible for cleaning of all areas of the Centre (floors, walls, furniture, ceilings, etc.)

Illustrative Examples or Work/Expectations
  • Clean and maintain all aspects of the building as per the Property Service Worker Checklist
  • Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them
  • Clean and stock Janitor Rooms
  • Gather and empty trash
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
  • Clean windows, glass partitions and mirrors
  • Dust furniture, walls, equipment, machines
  • Strip, seal, finish and polish floors on a scheduled basis
  • Mix cleaning solutions as per product guidelines
  • Labeling and safe storage of all chemicals as per WHMIS guidelines.
  • Pick-up and deliveries as requested, by management
  • Member of Occupational Health & Safety Committee
  • Update inventory supply list on a monthly basis with Administrative Assistant.
Seasonal
  • Snow removal from entrances
  • Gardening as required
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or certificate from a janitorial program or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a medium size building; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • WHMIS Training
  • Valid driver's license required (recent driver’s abstract)
  • Access to a vehicle an asset
  • Must provide a record of a recent Criminal History Check
  • Non‑Violent Crisis Training an asset
  • Valid CPR/First Aid certificate
  • Strong service ethic and friendly disposition a must
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a team
  • Adaptability to change and frequent interruptions
  • Must have ability to provide and accept work direction
  • Must have a strong ability to relate well to people
  • Must understand and maintain clientele/worker boundaries
  • Must be suitable to work with disadvantaged and challenging individuals;
  • Must have ability to work independently
Hours of Work

Casual - On Call. Hours are based on the needs of the department.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $18.35 to $18.35 with a maximum of $18.35. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
