Job description
OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support the Operational Risk Policy function through the remediation, uplift, and development of enterprise-level policy documentation. This role will play a critical part in aligning existing operational risk policies with current client’s standards, regulatory expectations, and internal frameworks.

The successful candidate will bring deep financial services experience, strong policy-writing expertise, and a solid understanding of Operational Risk Management. This role requires the ability to interpret complex risk concepts and translate them into clear, consistent, and compliant policy documentation for enterprise stakeholders.

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 2 days in office, flexible)
Contract Length: 6 Months
Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the remediation of Operational Risk Policy documentation across the enterprise.
  • Review, assess, and map existing policy documents to current client policies, standards, and frameworks.
  • Write operational risk policy documentation from scratch where required.
  • Uplift existing framework and policy documents to meet updated regulatory, governance, and enterprise expectations.
  • Ensure documentation is clear, consistent, and aligned with Operational Risk Management principles.
  • Partner with risk teams, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to validate accuracy and intent of documentation.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities within existing policy materials.
  • Maintain high standards of documentation quality, structure, and traceability within a regulated environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must Haves
  • 8+ years of experience within financial services or banking environments.
  • 8+ years of experience writing policy documentation and end-user documentation in regulated organizations.
  • Strong understanding of Operational Risk Management concepts, frameworks, and governance.
  • Proven ability to review, revise, and remediate complex policy documents with precision and clarity.
  • Exceptional written communication skills and attention to detail.
Nice to Haves
  • Experience supporting policy remediation and policy uplift initiatives.
  • Background working with Top 5 financial institutions.
  • Familiarity with enterprise risk, compliance, or control frameworks.
EDUCATION
  • Post‑secondary degree required (Business, Risk, Finance, Communications, or related discipline preferred).
