What will you be doing!

  • Executing moderately complex and moderately diverse professional work under general guidance, with a focus on achieving short- to mid-term results as an individual contributor.
    • Identifying the main objectives and essential skills participants need to learn for each course.
    • Preparing lesson plans, course outlines, presentations, field check out forms, pre-use equipment checks, and mapping out driver training routes.
    • Collaborating with internal teams and relevant stakeholders to design, develop, and implement technical training materials and programs.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of external contacts.
    • Facilitating technical training in the field, classroom, and virtual environments in an engaging and dynamic manner.
    • Qualifying Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) employees to operate tools and equipment safely.
    • Explaining key concepts and principles, and creating assignments or activities to test practical skills.
  • Identifying and recommending improvements to complex processes that affect the immediate area and broader client base; potentially implementing enhancements in own and related areas.
    • Updating course materials as needed to ensure they remain relevant and timely.
    • Ensuring necessary equipment is available, inspected, and scheduled for use.
    • Establishing metrics for evaluating course outcomes and participant performance.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • Post-secondary diploma or a degree in technical related field such as a skill trade, Process Systems Operator, Engineering, Technologist, etc., or completion of a Process Operations training program.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years’ working experience in their area of technical discipline.
    • Knowledge and ideally 1 – 2 years’ experience in training facilitation and practical training instruction required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Ability to become qualified to facilitate training and perform practical training assessments.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills for the purposes of building effective working relationships, facilitating training, and providing mentorship on-the-job.
    • Intermediate level computer skills, Word, Power Point, and Excel.
    • Planning and prioritization skills to coordinate own work to meet established deliverables.
    • High Standard of Accountability, taking action to identify improvements and solve problems.
    • Ability to attend the workplace in-person for the purposes of conducting training and assessing trainee performance on systems and equipment.
    • Ability to periodically attend other CNL workplace locations for the purposes of conducting training.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

  • We have a compressed work week, which consists of a four-day work week and ten hours a day - starting at 6 am.
