Job description

At Talbot & Associates (T&A), we’re not your typical accounting firm. Founded right here in Manitoba in 1991, we’ve been making numbers look good — and making clients smile — for over 30 years. We’re a bilingual (French/English) team of 90+ amazing humans who treat each other like family, share knowledge generously, and believe work should be rewarding and enjoyable. We take pride in helping our team members live their dreams, whether that’s advancing in their career, developing new skills, or simply enjoying life outside of work.

We’re thrilled to invite a motivated Tax Preparer to join our team for a full-time, temporary role on our Tax Season Task Force Team from February 2026 to June 2026 at our Ashern office! This is your chance to work in a positive, collaborative environment where every day brings the opportunity to make a real difference for our clients.

In this role, you’ll dive into a variety of accounting and tax functions, gaining hands‑on experience that sets the stage for a thriving career in accounting and public practice. You’ll grow your technical expertise, take on meaningful real‑world challenges, and be supported by mentorship and professional development opportunities every step of the way.

WHAT WE OFFER

We believe great work deserves great rewards. Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Professional experience at a firm that prepares over 8,000 personal tax returns every year.
  • In‑depth paid training on personal tax return preparation and ongoing feedback.
  • A real voice where your ideas matter, and your impact will be felt.
  • Flexibility to accommodate special work hour arrangements, because balance matters.
  • A work culture built on trust, support, and fun. We celebrate wins, help each other, and enjoy social events together.
  • Your chance to turn a seasonal role into a long‑term career — last year, many of our temporary team members were offered permanent positions.
WHO YOU ARE
  • We’re looking for someone who brings warmth, positivity, and natural motivation to everything they do. You’re a strong communicator—both verbally and in writing—and know how to keep things clear and professional.
  • You thrive in a busy environment, balancing multiple priorities with ease thanks to your excellent organizational and time‑management skills. With your sharp eye for detail, nothing slips through the cracks.
  • You’re also a true team player who enjoys collaborating and building strong relationships with colleagues and clients alike. Above all, you understand the importance of trust and confidentiality, handling sensitive information with the utmost integrity and discretion.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
  • A growth mindset—quick to learn, open to feedback, and excited to take on new challenges.
  • A positive, energetic attitude paired with strong communication skills.
  • Background in accounting or experience preparing tax returns (a plus, but not required).
  • Bilingual in French and English (considered an asset, but not required).

Talbot & Associates is a dynamic and fun work environment that offers tremendous growth to each team member and an unparalleled wealth of knowledge and experience for our clients. We offer many opportunities for advancement, including through pre-existing career paths and support and encouragement to pursue new specializations not yet mastered by our firm. If you are seeking a rewarding career with a results-driven team that prioritizes personal development, fosters transparency, and celebrates diversity, we would love to hear from you!
