A leading transport solutions provider is seeking a System Engineer for Battery and Auxiliary systems in Canada. Key responsibilities include defining train system architecture, managing technical relationships with suppliers, and verifying train strategies. By delegation of the TSE/TPM, specify one or several train functions, and associated sub-system(s) at train level and lead technically the engineering studies to reach the required performances at train level.

List of typical Functions at train level:

• Provide energy for auxiliaries
• Load Analysis of the train consumption
• Integrate the system into the train and its environment

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical missions:

• With databases, performing the transverse requirement allocations to the various subsystems in close collaboration with the relevant specialists,
• With databases, performing requirement development, coming from reference and applicable documents from Metiers, Standards, Certification, Safety, Platform and Customer
• Defining the Train System architecture, operational modes and functionalities taking as input the external/internal requirements
• Performing train system FMECA in coordination with RAMS team
• Ensuring consistency and compatibility between all the sub-systems specifications,
• Writing sub-system specification and architecture descriptionin collaboration with the relevant stakeholders according to train level architecture.
• Writes the Technical Purchasing Specification when needed.
• Manages technical contact until design has been frozen
• Drives technical relationships with suppliers with close management of QCD commitments, risks & validation (including Design Reviews with suppliers).
• Ensuring coordination between stakeholders on interfaces, performances, technical issues resolution during detailed design phase.
• On TSE/TPM request, participating to technical meetings with customer in order to provide support.
• Manage/lead component delivries and developpment with external/internal suppliers

V&V activities:

• Defining and performing Train verification strategy in close collaboration with all stakeholders
• Writing the train level test specifications
• Ensuring the train integration and tuning.

During train revenue service:

• Technical open issues resolution on TSE request, from investigation to modification implementation and problem closure,

QCD and reporting:

• Performing reporting at project level (to TSE, via KPI) and metier level (via weekly reports)
• Supporting TSE for implementation and update of Engineering risks mitigation plan, change order process and QCD optimisation
• Providing Return of experience to be implemented in Reference Solutions

REQUIRED PROFILE:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, or other relevant diploma
• Minimum 2 years of engineering experience in the railway field
• Very good knowledge of requirements management and change management, mandatory
• Good knowledge in systems engineering
• Knowledge of DOORS software, an asset
• Some travel is to be expected on an occasional basis to other Alstom sites or to customers
