Job summary

A regional health authority is seeking an experienced Surgical Care Nurse to provide and evaluate care for patients in a multidisciplinary environment. This role requires registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, as well as relevant surgical nursing education. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, organizational, and patient assessment skills. Candidates with up to two years of related experience are encouraged to apply. This position serves a critical function in maintaining patient and staff safety.

Qualifications

  • Up to two years recent related experience.

Job description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Working as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, the Surgical Care Nurse functions as an experienced self-directed surgical care nurse by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant; and

Post-basic education in surgical/ambulatory care nursing on a unit specific basis; or

An equivalent combination of education and training.

Up to two (2) years recent, related experience on a unit specific basis.
