QUALIFIED EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANTS

This posting targets qualified Educational Assistant applicants for supply in the following schools and geographical areas:

  • St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School, Parry Sound, ON
  • Saint Mary's Catholic School, Huntsville, ON
  • Monsignor Michael O'Leary Catholic School, Bracebridge, ON
  • St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School, Bracebridge, ON
  • St. Antoine Daniel Catholic School, Victoria Harbour, ON

HOURS OF WORK:

1.00 FTE = 33 hours and 50 minutes per week

Rate of Pay: $29.51 + 4% vacation pay, as determined by the principal.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work with students with Special Needs (including physical and intellectual disabilities, behavioral or other learning difficulties). The Educational Assistant, as a professional member of the school team, provides academic, physical, and emotional support to students with exceptional needs to encourage independence and develop individual talents.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant training (e.g., non-violent crisis intervention, conflict training)
  • Experience working with students with Special Needs and severe behavioral/emotional difficulties
  • Ability and experience working as part of a team
  • College Diploma in a related field, University Degree, or Educational Assistant Apprenticeship Certificate
  • At least 2 years experience with Special Needs students
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with children and adolescents
  • Broader qualifications accepted: any two-year diploma from a Ministry-accredited college or three-year degree from a Ministry-accredited university, or a combination of education and experience
